Ashville College - Harrogate

Green Lane, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, HG2 9JP, United Kingdom

What is Ashville College like?

Ashville College is a leading day and boarding school for boys and girls aged 2 to 18. The 64-acre campus is located in the beautiful spa town of Harrogate and close to the Yorkshire Dales. Around 800 pupils on average attend each year, including approximately 100 boarders from across the UK and around the world. Founded in 1877, Ashville provides an outstanding and holistic learning provision across the College, from Ashville Acorns Pre-Prep, through to the Sixth Form.

Pupils benefit from high quality teaching and facilities, as well as exciting activities delivered through a varied Co-Curricular Programme. As well as offering a wide range of subject options at GCSE and over 20 A Level and BTEC courses in the Sixth Form, they are the only independent school in the North of the UK to be accredited by the New England Association of School and Colleges (NEASC) to award US High School Diplomas.

Ashville’s academic curriculum is rigorous, varied and most importantly, tailored to each individual pupil’s needs at every stage in their education. Each pupil has a flexible learning programme, enabling them to achieve their full potential, and teachers regularly monitor pupils’ progress as part of a robust tracking and intervention system.

Would Ashville College be a good fit for my child?

Ashville fosters a culture of high expectations, ambition, and staying true to their Methodist foundation, emphasising the importance of being the best version of oneself. They promote a love of all-round learning for its own sake-not just as a means to an end. Both inside and outside the classroom, they provide a wide range of opportunities for intellectual, physical and personal interest and development.

At the heart of Ashville’s success is a full commitment to the development of good, caring human beings through their proactive, individualised pastoral care and individual mentoring. All pupils are part of a happy and close-knit community; known, cherished and encouraged as individuals.

In addition, Ashville provides a rich and varied programme of co-curricular activities throughout the week including music, sport, drama as well as an extensive range of other pursuits. These opportunities are all hugely enjoyable in themselves, but they also help girls and boys of all ages to develop confidence and the social skills they will need to be happy and successful in the ever-changing global workplace.
