King Alfred School - London
The King Alfred School was founded in 1898 by a group of parents who sought to create an excellent education focussing on the whole child, and who wanted the school to make a positive impact on the world.
Today, King Alfred’s still aspires to abide by these two principles, and is a school that stands out from the prevailing educational landscape. Based on a deep understanding of child development and educational research, they have developed their own concept of excellent education, which enables all students to ‘Thrive at school, and beyond’. Whilst academic achievement is prized, equal weight is given to artistic and cultural pursuits and the school excels in Art, Drama and Music. Relationships between staff and pupils are excellent. The school has a progressive, informal atmosphere with no school uniform, the use of first names, and relatively few rules.
