Lancing College

Lancing, West Sussex, BN15 0RW, United Kingdom

What is Lancing College like?

Overlooking the English Channel on the edge of the South Downs national park, Lancing College has a longstanding reputation for traditional values and exemplary pastoral care. It regularly features in the top 30 co-ed boarding schools for A-levels league table, and is also highly regarded for sport and music.

Lancing College is predominantly boarding, with local day students very well integrated into the school culture and extra-curricular activities. It has a strong traditional British boarding school feel, with quadrangles, cloisters and spires creating an almost mini-Oxbridge feel.

With excellent transport links to international airports, Lancing College is increasingly popular with overseas families, who benefit from a warm, welcoming, and inclusive College community.

The newly-developed equestrian centre is testament to the fact that, whilst academic excellence is the priority, Lancing College truly embraces the ethos of providing a well-rounded education of endless opportunity.

Would Lancing College be suitable for my child?

Academically, Lancing is reasonably selective, though perhaps not as selective as the excellent exam results would suggest. The College embraces diversity amongst its students, and looks to enrol students who will contribute their own passions and talents, be it in STEM, humanities, music, sport or art.

Students are expected to throw themselves into a busy boarding environment, and embrace the open-minded, collaborative community.  They should have the confidence to follow their own path, and the spirit to support and celebrate the passions and successes of their peers.

How can I apply to Lancing College?

The standard senior school entry years of ages 13+ and 16+ are the most common points of entry, though you may be lucky enough to find an occasional 14+ space.

With such importance given to personality, applicants are often interviewed first. Testing is of course still mandatory.

Early registration is advised, at least one year in advance, and it is always worth contacting us first to discuss suitability and how to make your child’s application as strong as possible.
