Edge Grove School
Edge Grove is a co-educational prep school for children aged 3-13, with a good balance of boys and girls. It is predominantly a day school but about 50 children board, mainly on a flexi basis. Despite its proximity to London, the school has a rural feel with a beautiful spacious campus and very good facilities. Families come from a range of local towns and villages as well as London and the student body is more ethnically diverse than other local schools.
Academically the school is gently selective and a lot of emphasis is placed on ensuring that children progress to the right senior schools. Girls tend to leave at the end of Year 6 but boys stay until the end of Year 8, when they mainly progress to the top boys’ North London day schools. The school has developed a broad ‘IB style’ diploma – the Edge Grove Baccalaureate - which provides pupils with a range of opportunities to develop as independent learners. Mandarin, Spanish and Italian are all offered as enrichment activities and Engineering is part of the curriculum.
This is a school with a huge amount on offer for children to get involved in. Edge Grove is strong in sports and also offers a huge range of after-school activities every day. Art, Music and Drama are all very strong.
In Year 4 pupils have three Games sessions a week and a PE lesson too. In Games they do football, rugby, cricket, swimming and athletics and they also play regular matches against other schools. There is an outdoor heated pool that's used in the summer term and in September.
